What can you expect at your
K-laser therapy appointment?
Your pet’s session is calm, gentle, and completely non-invasive. Most pets relax or even fall asleep during therapy!
Treatment times vary depending upon the condition and the size of your animal, but the majority are 10-30 minutes. Often improvement can be seen after the first visit, however Class IV Laser Therapy treatment is cumulative in nature so for most conditions patients will require several repeat treatments initially as this helps us achieve the best anti-inflammatory and comfort respone. The schedule of treatments will vary depending upon the condition but this is an example plan often used:

Two treatments in the first week

Two treatments in the second week

One treatment in the third week

One treatment in the fourth week
After the initial course of 6 treatments we review how they are responding. If showing positive improvment which is very common we then move onto maintanence treatments which are typically every 2-6 weeks depending on the case and severity of the condition.
Your laser therapist will recommend a treatment plan specific to your pet’s condition. A veterinary referral is required before treatment can be carried out. Please contact Emily directly for a referral form.
Is Laser Therapy Covered by Pet Insurance?
Yes — many pet insurance providers do cover laser therapy, especially when it’s recommended by a veterinarian as part of treatment for a covered condition such as arthritis, injuries, or post‑surgery recovery.
However, coverage isn’t universal. Each insurer has its own rules about what counts as an eligible complementary or alternative therapy. Some include laser therapy automatically, while others only cover it under specific add‑on packages.
Always check your individual policy (or contact your insurer directly) to confirm whether laser therapy is included and what documentation they require for reimbursement.
Are there any side effects of laser therapy for pets?
Laser therapy for pets generally has minimal side effects. In some cases, pets may experience mild discomfort or become more active after treatment due to reduced pain. However, these effects are temporary and the overall treatment is well-tolerated by most pets.
